Cecil Day

Cecil Neil Day, age 68 of Dayton went to his Creator Friday afternoon, Feb. 14, 2014 in Chattanooga. Cecil was born in Fulton, MI on January 4, 1946 the son of the late Amos and Dorothy (Medawis) Day, Sr. Cecil is a Native American of the Potawatomi Tribe. He was raised in the Fulton, Athens, Battle Creek area of Michigan and was a graduate of the Athens High School. He served his country as a paratrooper in the US Army 173rd Airborne in Viet Nam from 1965-1969. He was a member of the Spring City Legion Post 203 in Spring City and the Viet Nam Chapter 203 in Chattanooga. Cecil retired after 30 years as a chemical operator for BASF in Chattanooga. He is survived by his three sons, Tony Day of Fulton, MI, Chris (Pam) Day of Sale Creek and John (Natasha) Day of Soddy Daisy; daughter, Patti Smith of Pompano Beach, FL, his brother, Amos (Susie) Day, Jr. of Grand Rapids, MI; three sisters, Gwynneth Nugent, Cheryl (Charlie) Morseau and Paula Keith all of Fulton, MI; fourteen grandchildren and his companion and her daughter, Betty Whitfield and Robin Roberts of Dayton. Funeral services for Cecil will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will be Wednesday in the Potawatomi Native American Cemetery in Fulton, MI. Please share your memories of Cecil on his online guest register at www.vanderwallfh.com.
