Linda Oborn

Linda Lapuz Oborn, 62, of Signal Mountain, passed away after an arduous battle with ovarian cancer, on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014. She was born to the late Jose and Cecilia Lapuz, of Manilla, Philippines, on April 16, 1951. She studied business and accounting at the Philippine College of Commerce, and married in 1972. For over thirty years as a devoted wife and mother, she moved often due to her ex-husbands work and, in later years, enjoyed traveling to Europe as well as returning to visit family and friends in the Philippines. She moved to Signal Mountain, TN in the summer of 1991, and has considered it her sanctuary and home ever since. She is survived by her two daughters, Stacy J. (Ryan) Platt of Colorado Springs, CO and Michelle (Jonathan) Crumley, of Chattanooga, TN; five sisters, Myrna (Tita) Lingle, Gloria (Jing-Jing) Piepkorn, Rosario (Charito) Lapuz, Celia Crabill, Milagras (Angie) Pascual; three brothers, Jose (Joey) Lapuz, Jr., Eduardo (Bobot) Lapuz, Wilfredo (Oyet) Lapuz; one half-sister, Joy Lapuz; one half-brother, Joel Lapuz; and one grandchild, Evelyn S. Platt, who was born two months earlier and whom she was very happy to meet and hold prior to passing. A visitation will be held at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. A funeral service will be performed by Duane Mabee, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Linda greatly loved flowers, and floral arrangements may be sent to the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at Standifer Place, for their loving care and thoughtfulness during Lindas illness.
