Nick Catron

Nick S. Catron, 71, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, after a courageous battle with melanoma. He was born in Ponca City, Okla., and has been a resident of Hixson since 1980. He served seven years in the Navy Submarine Service earning his dolphins. He retired from TVA after 29 years, and then worked as a contractor for FEMA for 10 years. He was the former softball president of the Middle Valley Youth Association. He had a passion for golf and Alabama college football. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Gail Davis Catron; and their daughter, Laura Catron (Greg) Hobart; son, Scott (Julie) Catron from Atlanta; and daughter, Lisha Catron Osterhout (Will) and grandson, Liam from Hawaii; his brothers, Mike Catron (Mollie) and Jeff Duke (Cristina), of Texas, and sister, Cheryl Robbins (George), of Alabama. A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at the funeral home.
