Carolyn Boatman

Carolyn Espy Boatman, 82, Chattanooga, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2013, after an extended illness. A lifelong resident of Chattanooga, Carolyn was a soloist for various churches and attended Lee University and Erlanger School of Nursing. She, along with her husband Homer, were missionaries to Haiti for 10 years and served the Lord in many areas of her church. In later years she worked in the Erlanger Gift Shop always greeting her customers with her sweet smile. Carolyn was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church and was the epitome of a Godly woman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Ione Espy; brothers, Jim and Willis Espy; great-grandson, Jaxson Wynn. She is survived by her husband, Homer Boatman; daughter, Christine Witt, Fort Oglethorpe, Ga.; Tina Hartman, Chicago, Ill., and Debbie Boettner, Jacksonville, N.C.; son, Michael Boatman, Louisville, Ky.; grandchildren, Anita Witt, J.R. and Josh Hartman, Julia Haynes, Lydia Clark, Beth Boatman, Justin South, Chrissy Hobby, Kelly Fosler, Carrie West; and 20 great-grandchildren.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at National Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Walliser officiating. Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort.
