Jessie Horner

Jesie A. Horne passed away Feb. 20, 2014, in Chattanooga, at the age of 94. Jessie joined her beloved husband, William "Jack" Horner in heaven to be together after 74 years of marriage. Jessie was born in Jefferson County, Tenn., May 24 1919 and lived most of her adult life in Knoxville. She graduated from Maury High School and attended Carson-Newman College. She retired from Southern Railway (Now Norfolk Southern) after 37 years of service. Jessie was an active member of Lincoln Park Methodist Church for over 65 years and held many official positions within the church. She loved playing in the hand bells choir for many years. The church was an active part of her and Jacks life. Her and Jack loved to travel with their best friends and saw many places in the United States and Europe. Jessie is survived by a son, Maurice (Karen) Horner; two grandsons, Brad (Cyndy) Horner and Michael (Ashley) Horner; two stepgrandchildren, Lisa (Denny) Hensley and Brian Longhenry. She also had five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel, Knoxville, funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 officiated by Rev. John Gargis. Following the service Jessie A. Horner will be laid to rest at Jefferson Memorial Garden, Jefferson City Tenn.. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to Lincoln Park United Methodist Church, 3120 Pershing Avenue Knoxville, TN 37917. Arrangements by Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel.
