Patricia Humm

Patricia Ann Roed Humm, 71, of Red Bank, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014. She was born in Duluth, Minn., on July 18, 1942 to her parents, Clarence Fredrick Roed and Ruth Ann Brander Roed. Her brother, Clarence Fredrick Roed and his family reside in the Seattle, Wash., area. After graduating from High School, her higher education started at Luther College in Wahoo, Neb., then to the University of Wisconsin in Madison and finishing her final nursing class at Saginaw General Hospital in Michigan in 1967. Patricia married Vic Humm on April 23, 1966 in Sheboygan, Wis. In 1974, they adopted their son, Scott Fredrick Humm, who was mentally challenged. Her nursing career changed to assisting other families with special children in the form of baby-sitting and advising parents to help them with their respective needs. Her nursing activity was involved in Obstetrics. In 1987, they moved to their current residence in Red Bank. She began working in home health on a routine basis. In 1997, after moving their son from Green Valley Development Center to Orange Grove, an incident took Scotts life. In recent years, Alzheimers disease and dementia advanced until the time of her passing at Soddy-Daisy Health Center Nursing Facility under the care of Hospice of Chattanooga. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor John Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Chattanooga Memorial Park. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, 877-3524. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House, Memorial Hospital or Alzheimer's Association.
