Addie Butler

Addie Elizabeth Butler went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014. She was the daughter of Clyde and Addie Little and sister of Emma Clyde McElroy, Helen Roe and Beldon Little. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Henry Butler; son, David Butler, of Franklin, Tenn.; and daughter, Nylea Butler-Moore and her husband, Kyle and granddaughter, Haley Butler-Moore, of Los Alamos, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews. Addie was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga, attended Tennessee Temple University, and was branch secretary/bookkeeper at Associates Discount Corporation. When her children were in elementary school, Addie participated in the PTA. She was an active member of Ridgedale Baptist Church for 60 years, serving in ministry with children through senior adults. She was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Friendship Bible Class and Women on Mission, and leader of the Homebound Ministry. The family will receive friends and loved ones on from 2 until 3:45 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Ridgedale Baptist Church, 1831 Hickory Valley Road. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. in the Church Sanctuary with Dr. Doug Plumlee and Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson. Active pallbearers will be Don Corley, Jack Smith, Elmer Gillespie, James Haun, Richard Vorwerk and Wylie Gross. Charlie Goodgame and members of the Ridgedale Friendship Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ridgedale Baptist Church Building Fund, 1831 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, or to the American Cancer Society, 6221 Shallowford Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
