Denny Chandler

Harold Denny Chandler, 48 of Jena, La., passed away Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La. He was a native of Fort Oglethorpe, and had lived in Jena, La., for the past 12 years. Denny was a 1983 graduate of McCallie High School where he received an Academic Scholarship and was also named to the all-city football team. After graduating from McCallie Denny went on to graduate from Auburn University in 1990. He was currently employed as a Compliance Investigator with the USDA in Louisiana and he had also worked for Bryan Foods in Mississippi. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jena, La., and the Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church in Chickamauga, Ga. Denny was a Cub Scout Leader with Troop 14 of Jena, La., he was an avid Auburn University football fan, and he also enjoyed hunting and enjoying the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Chandler. Survivors include his son, Jacob Chandler, of Jena; his mother and stepfather, Julia and Gilbert Davis, of Chickamauga; stepmother, Carole Claypool, of Chattanooga; three sisters, Dana Chandler, Shaina (Tommy) Gross, and Betsy (Jeff) Craig, all of Chickamauga; and a host of family and friends. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Rick Maeser officiating. Interment will follow in Chickamauga City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
