Rev. Dwight Deal

Rev. Dwight Deal, 71, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at a local hospital. He pastored at Dry Valley Baptist Church and had been in the ministry for 50 years. Dwight was on staff at Highland Park Baptist Church as director of The Union Gospel Mission. He was retired from the U.S. Post Office. Dwight was founder of the Chattanooga Women's Mission and Maranatha Mission and Co-founder of the Chattanooga Food Bank. Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Deal; mother, Agnes Deal; brother Nathan Deal; wife, Linda Deal; and sister, Whanola Andersen. Dwight is survived by his wife Jeanette, sons Tim (Maria) Deal and Scott (Faye) Deal, stepson, Chad Betty, grandchildren, Andrew Deal, Corey Deal, Austin Deal, Justin Deal, Madison Betty, Jacob Pohlman, Harper Pohlman, and Hannah Pohlman; his brother, Ralph (Carrie) Deal; his sister, Priscilla Kennedy. Services will be 2:30 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Scott Deal officiating along with Rev. Ted Verville, Rev. Lee Griggs and Rev. Mike Smith. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ministers of the Northwest Georgia and Lookout Baptist Association.
