Marion Akins

Marion F. Akins, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013. She was a member of Brittsville Baptist Church and enjoyed crafts and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leland and Mae Norwood; son, Robert Catchings; and brother, James Norwood. Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Glenn L. Akins, of Harrison; four children, Pat Ritch, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., James (Carolyn) Catchings, of Harrison, Donna (Michael) McDowell, of Chattanooga, David (Gay) Catchings, of Harrison; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Thomas Norwood, of Eolia, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Purdie and Pastor Gurney Beard officiating. The burial will follow in Holder Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 28 p.m. today at the funeral home.
