Verdie James

Verdie Mae Burns James, 83, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013. Mrs. James was a member of Minvalle Baptist Church and the Widows Mite Club. She was retired from 3M Corporation. She was preceded in death by husband, Otis James and by Stephen Brogdon. Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Massey (Tommy) Hutson, of Rossville, Jean (Tony) Newman, of Hixson, Janice (Max) Haney, of Newport, Tenn.; brother, Arvil (Nancy) Burns, of Crossville, Ala.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many precious nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. CST today, Jan. 2, from the W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel, Rainsville, Ala., with burial to follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Rev. Jack James and Rev. John Keef will be officiating.
