Bill Long

Joseph Willie "Bill" Long, 70, of Lookout Valley, passed away on Friday, Jan. 3, 2013 in a local hospital. A native of Henagar, Ala., Bill had lived most of his life in the Chattanooga area and was a member of Tiftonia Holiness Church. He retired from the Electric Power Board following twenty years of service and also was employed with Dillard Smith Construction. Known for his great artistic talent, Bill was associated with the Chattanooga Boys Choir and Tivoli Theater for many years helping with backdrops and staging equipment. For many years, he coached at the Lookout Valley Recreation Center and had a great passion for antique cars, woodworking, camping and music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Carl and Odell Long; and brother, Bobby Long. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 48 1/2 years, Diane Pell Long; son, Dave Long; daughter, Dana Long Phillips; grandchildren, Dylan Long, Destiny Canterbury, Riley and Owen Phillips; sister, Patsy Long Seaton; brother, Ray Long; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday Jan. 6, at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Troy Lawson and Brother Royce Cornelison officiating.
