Rudy Gibson

Marlin Ellis "Rudy" Gibson, 62, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at a local hospital. He was a member and deacon at Sequoyah Baptist Tabernacle where he had worked with the youth, sang in the choir, and was very involved in every aspect of the church. He had a servants heart, and helping at church was very important to him. He was an electrical engineer at TVA, and he taught school and coached at East Ridge High School. He was a faithful, devoted, and loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Martine Gibson; and brother, John Wayne Gibson. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Martha "Marty" Gibson; sons, Jonathan Andrew "Andy" (Tiffany) Gibson, Michael Joseph (Ashley) Gibson; brothers, David Gibson and Fred Gibson; sisters, Rosa Hall, and Mary Wilson; grandchildren, Garrett Isaac Gibson, Kayla Elise Gibson, and Tyler Matthew Gibson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Stancil, the Rev. Brooks Green, the Rev. J.D. Gibson, and the Rev. Rick Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 7, 2014, at the funeral home.
