Mary Grooms

Mary Ruth Grooms, 75, departed this life Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at the local hospital. Mary was born June 27, 1938 in Hixson, a daughter of the late Ebb and Dollie Howard Poteet. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Therman Grooms; son, Randy Poteet; brother, Charles Poteet. She is survived by her children, Alvin and Melissa Grooms, Marvin Cox, Marlene Eaker, Shelia Cox, all of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Eugene Poteet, of Dalton, Ga., Eddie Lewis, Janice Talbert, both of Texas; brother and sister-in-law, JT and Betty Poteet, of Tennessee; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Mary Ruth Grooms will be held at 7 p.m. today, Jan. 11, from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Tony Wyatt officiating.
