Martha Allison

Martha Allison of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Nina and Louis Schmidt. She was born on Jan. 11, 1923, in Evansville, Ind. where she grew up with her brother, Paul Schmidt. While serving with the USO she met her late husband Calvin Dale Allison and they were married in February of 1946. For many years she worked in the library at Cleveland State Comminuty College. She loved helping others and served as a volunteer at Bradley County Memorial Hospital. She also enjoyed sports, especially watching the Atlanta Braves and the Tennessee Vols. She was a faithful member of Brainerd Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Bruce) Warmack, of Knoxville and Maggie (Jim) Scott, of Cleveland, Tenn.; grandchildren, Neil (Meredith) Scott, Andy (Erica) Warmack, Allison (Micah) Morrison and Katherine Warmack; five great-grandchildren, Evie and Darcy Scott, Jackson and Libby Warmack and Everett Morrison. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald Ragon officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Brainerd Presbyterian Church, 1624 Jenkins Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
