Bobby Smith

Bobby Leon Smith, 87, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born in Caster, La., to the late Louis L. and Mable Chester Smith. He has lived in the Chattanooga area since 1981 and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. Bob served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from Emerson Russell Management Group. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mavee, Marie and Sally; brother James; and stepson, Arthur Steven Garrison. Bob is survived by his wife, of 33 years, Ola Mae Smith; children, Jeff Smith and India (Doug) Strain; stepdaughter, Teresa (Robin) Bush; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Shad Smith and Rev. Scott Young officiating. Interment will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and prior to the service on Monday. W.L.
