Gordon Simpson

Gordon George Simpson, 79, of Soddy-Daisy, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born July 7, 1934, left this world and entered into his eternal home to be with his Lord and Savior. Gordon owned Simpson Construction for 35 years and retired after 29 years with EPB. He founded the Southland Quartet in 1972, which will continue as part of his legacy. He attended Soddy-Daisy High School and holds a doctor of Motors degree. He was a member of Daisy Masonic Lodge 706 F&AM and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32 degree. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cordie Rice and Ernest Orlando Simpson; sister, Ruby Simpson and brothers, Elmer Simpson, Paul "J.C." Simpson, Orville Simpson, Jewel "J.O." Simpson, Glenn Simpson and Cecil Simpson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cross Simpson; children, Rex (Sissie) Simpson, Stephanie (Marty) Ferris, Randy Simpson, Marsha Faye Lee and Sharon Booker; step-children, Windi (Bova) Halford, Hollie (James) Parker and Michael (Stacy) Cross; brothers, Wayne (Billie) Simpson, Harold (Linda) Simpson; sister, Carolyn Minor; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Odell Broadway officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at the funeral home. The family wants to offer a special thanks to Hospice of Chattanooga and nurses, Billie Wilson and Noel Fowler.
