James Talley

James Merrill Talley, 85, formerly of Indianapolis, Ind., died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at the Spring City Care and Rehab Center. Born in Dublin, Ind., he was the son of the late Ewart M. and Alberta Essington Talley Sr. James was veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a metal model maker and retired from General Motors Delco Remy after 40 years of service. James and his wife, Elizabeth, moved from Indianapolis to the Spring City community. He was of the Methodist faith and a mason and member of Noblesville Masonic Lodge #57 in Noblesville, Ind. He was preceded in death by his brother Ewart M. Talley Jr. Survivors include his wife 63 years, Elizabeth Pike Talley, of Spring City; daughters, Ann (Rodney Steagall) Gates, of Dayton, Tenn., and Patricia (Jay) Powell, of Rosemount, Minn.; sons, David Talley, of Cleveland, Tenn., and Benjamin (Debra) Talley, of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece. A celebration of the life of James, a kind, loving and humorous man, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Rocky Churchwell officiating. The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Audrey Pack Memorial Library Foundation, P.O.
