Charles Phipps

Charles Eugene Phipps, 76, passed away Sunday Jan. 26, 2014. A resident of the North Georgia, Chattanooga area for the past 15 years, he was a former resident of Morehead City, N.C. He was a retired Veteran of the U.S. Marines, former chief of police in Morehead City, N.C., a former Charter Boat Captain in Morehead City, N.C., a former driver at Erlanger for two years and was of the Baptist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Anna Miller Phipps; and several siblings. He is survived by his wife, Mildred White Scott Phipps, of Ringgold; daughter, Kista (Greg) Gipson, of Cleveland, Ohio; stepchildren, Barbara Yvonne (Bud) Scott Arms, of Ringgold, and Gail (Frank) Grucel, of Crete, Ill.; two sisters, JoAnn Willison, of Battleground, Ind., and Susan Warner, of Huntington, Ind.; six grandchildren, Gregory Gipson, David Gipson, Kami (Shawn) Fisher, Katie (Cameron) Blankenship, Scott (Jamie) Arms and George Grucel; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, in the funeral home chapel. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. today until funeral time at the funeral home.
