Gladys York

Gladys Irene York, 85, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in a local hospital. Mrs. York had been a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church for more than 50 years and had served as a Sunday School teacher. She worked for many years at the Chattanooga Telephone Co. and retired as secretary of Westside Elementary School with 30 years of service. Mrs. York was a member of the Bentley Place Garden Club and also volunteered as a Gray Lady at Hutcheson Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Gladys Hargraves; and husbands, Robert W. Campbell and Wayne York. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Charles Grasham, of Rossville; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Donna Campbell, of Ringgold; grandchildren, Adam (Lisa) Grasham, Daniel (Jessica) Grasham, Amanda (Grant) Castings, Nathan and Austin Campbell; great-granddaughter, Ava Castings; sister, Reba Jennings; brother, Robert Hargraves; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Richard Burney. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.
