William Ellison

William D. Ellison, 65, went home to be with his Lord and family on Monday, July 7, 2014. He was an active member of White Oak Baptist Church in Trenton and served on the Deacon Board since 1980. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 37 1/2 years of service. Donnie was a Vietnam Veteran, where he served in the United States Army from February 1969 thru February 1972. He enjoyed deer and turkey hunting and fishing and all ways doing for others. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan Palmer Ellison; children, Holly (Shawn) Moore and Clinton (Amber) Ellison; grandchildren, Zoie, and Grant Moore, John, Garrett, Emma, Carson and Sarah Mae Ellison; his mothers, Lela Ridge Holland and Lucille Ridge Ellison; brothers, Lonnie (Freda) Ellison, John (Pam) Ellison, Charles (Melissa) Ellison, Gary (Susan) Christopher and sister, Jeannie (Bill) Lippard and several nieces and nephews and cousins; special family, George, Rachel, Tyler, Chandler, Hanna and Jadyn Smith. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Porter Ellison and Claude "Sonny" Ellison; and stepmother, Betty Ellison; grandparents, Kirk and Mae Ellison and Hiram and Lena Ridge. Funeral services will be held noon EDT Thursday, July 10, 2014, in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home with Brother Lonnie Denney and Brother Jeff Daniels officiating. Interment will be held 2 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation will be held 11 a.m.-8 p.m. EDT today. Pallbearers will be Shane Palmer, Roger Duncan, Buddy D. Palmer, Roger Cox, George Smith and Chandler Smith. In lieu of flowers make donations to White Oak Baptist Church Youth Building Fund, P.O. Box 1078, Trenton GA 30752.
