Bessie Woods

Bessie Mae Cochran Woods, 87, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, at her residence. She worked for Miller Brothers for many years and later for Sodexho-Marriott from where she later retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel and Nealie Cochran; former husband, John Woods; sisters, Mae Etta Fears, Izola, Hazel and Willie Mae Cochran; special nephew, Dewayne Cochran. Survivors include her brothers, Arthur Cochran, Nathaniel Strait, both of Talladega, Ala., and Alfred Cochran, of Detroit; sister, Lucille (John) Jones of Detroit; a dear cousin, Luerena Fleming, of Chattanooga; devoted caregivers, Carolyn Parker (David) Bins, Vincent Parker, Cornelius Fears, Lashelle Parker, Rachel Bins; and a host of other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She will lie-in-state after 12:30 p.m. today at Taylor Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at noon Saturday in the chapel with Brother Phillip Henderson as the eulogist. Burial: Forest Hills Cemetery.
