Glenn Sturdivant

Glenn O. Sturdivant, 88, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 6, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and of the Baptist faith. Glenn retired from Provident Life and Accident Insurance Co. after 30 years of service. He was a WWII Navy veteran having served as a radioman on the USS Hocking and fought in both the battles of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0159. He was a graduate of the University of Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Business Administration and was an avid reader, photographer and enjoyed bowling. His presence will be greatly missed. Glenn was born to the late Olen and Grace Sturdivant. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Sturdivant; and one sister, Mildred Bonine. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Nancy Sturdivant, of Chattanooga; one daughter, Amy (David) Jennings; and granddaughter Jennifer Jennings, of Greenwood, S.C.; and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the Turner Funeral Home Chapel with Minister David Jennings Officiating. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from noon Thursday until the time of service.
