James Hall

James Ernest Hall, my father, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at 4 p.m. in Chattanooga; he was 84 years of age. He was under Hospice care at the time of his passing. He was born Oct. 1, 1929, to Ernest and Myrtle Banks Hall and siblings, Martha, Bill and Chuck in Memphis, Tenn. My father spent his childhood in Memphis. graduated from Trezevant High School and began a career with Bell Telephone (AT&T). He was drafted for Military Service during the Korean Conflict, attended Officer Cadet School and was commissioned a second-lieutenant assigned to the U.S. Army Signal Corps stationed in Verdun, France. Upon his honorable discharge from Military Service he continued his career with Bell Telephone/Southern Bell/Bell South (AT&T), accumulating 36 years of service before retiring in 1983. During his career with AT&T he resided in Memphis, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Birmingham, Ala., and permanently settled in Chattanooga, as marketing manager for Bell South in 1968 where he resided for the past 46 years. He was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife, Lois Faye Milam Hall (married 63 years); daughter, Sherry D. Hall Coe, Chattanooga; son and daughter-in-law, James F. and Sylvia J. Reedy Hall, Knoxville; grandsons, James Clinton Coe and Kent Lee Coe, Chattanooga; granddaughter and husband, Jessica L. Hall Speropulos, Peter J. Speropulos, St. Louis, Mo.; great-grandchildren, J. Braydon Coe, Kailyn S. Coe, Chloe S. Goff, Chattanooga, Caitlyn M. Ramsey, Tampa, Fla., Kaden J. Coe, Collegedale. The Rev. Braxton Cotton will conduct the graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friday, June 13.
