Neda Lyons

Neda Ann Hollingsworth Lyons, 75, of Chattanooga, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at St. Barnabas Nursing Home. Neda was born Dec. 11, 1938 in Boaz, Ala., the daughter of the late Curt T. Hollingsworth and Annie Hubbard Hollingsworth Bates. Neda graduated from Etowah High School. She worked for NASA in the department of ABMA at the Huntsville Space Center. She worked for Dr. Von Braun, who developed the Apollo Space Program. It was during this time that she met her husband of 29 years, Marion David Lyons. Neda was a longtime resident of Chattanooga living on the lake in Hixson, then residing on Signal Mountain. Neda was a cheerful sweet person with a beautiful laugh and a loving heart. She was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Hollingsworth. Neda is survived by her children, M. David Lyons, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Chattanooga, Olivia Rechter and husband, Mark, of Nashville, Cheryl Santa-Ana and husband, Sam, of Chattanooga, Michael Lyons and wife, Reina, of Nashville; grandchildren, Christopher Rechter, Saraeah Lyons, Eric Rechter and Matthew Lyons; brother, David Hollingsworth and wife, Nadine; sister-in-law, Helen Hollingsworth; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral. A celebration of life service for Neda will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
