Margaret Griffey

Margaret Ola Griffey, 88 of Chattanooga, died on Saturday, June 14, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Benson Reed Vandergriff and Mamie Cantrell Vandergriff. Margaret retired from Cutter Laboratories, was a member of Temple Baptist Church, the Court Watch Program and the Hamilton County Democratic Party. She was also a member of the East lake Senior Citizens, the East Lake Neighborhood Committee, serving in various positions with both organizations, and the Scenic City Friends, where she served as the Trip Planner. Margaret loved musicals and plays. She was preceded in death by her best friend and companion, Kenneth Long; and one great-granddaughter, Laura Woody. Survivors include her son, David (Sandra) Griffey III; daughter, Delores Griffey Rincon; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Victor Vandergriff; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 18, at Forest Hills Cemetery with Pastor Scott Young officiating. Visit www.heritagefh.com to share words of comfort to the family.
