Gary Smith Sr.

Gary Lewis Smith Sr., 65, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Sherwood, Tenn. on Nov. 24, 1948 to Lewis Smith and Sybil Cooper Smith. Gary graduated from Kirkman in 1967. He was a truck driver many years of his life, known by his handle "Truck". He was an avid Vols fan Gary was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Louise R. Smith; sister, Mary Johnson, of Ider, Ala.; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Merve Barrett, of Chattanooga; son and daughter-in-law, Gary L. Smith Jr. and Colette of Higdon, Ala. daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Billy Farrow, of Flat Rock, Ala.; daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Kirby Smith, of Cloudland, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Chapel with burial to follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
