Lillie Hamm

Lillie Mae Holland Hamm, 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 9, 2014, and her family was with her at her passing. She was born in Milan, Ga., to the late Thomas Monroe and Mollie Holland and was raised in Dodge County, Ga., before moving to Macon in 1944. She retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1987 after more than 35 years as an accountant and enjoyed sewing and cooking. She never met a stranger and was always doing for others. There was always a place in her home and at her table for preachers, evangelists, missionaries and her many "adopted" children. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Self. Survivors include her loving husband of more than 67 years, Jimmy Hamm, of Fort Oglethorpe; sons and daughters-in-law, James "Jimmy" (Sherry) Hamm Sr., of Dallas, Ga., and Rev. Louis (Deloris) Hamm, of Fort Oglethorpe; brother, Raymond Holland, of Lizella, Ga.; six grandchildren, Cherie Grantham, Leah Hamm, Amanda Hamm-Sutherland, James Hamm Jr., Tabitha Hamm-Hicks and Michael Hamm; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends locally from 6-8 p.m. today, March 11, 2014, at the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, in the Crest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Brother James "Jimmy" Hamm Sr. and the Rev. Louis H. Hamm officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Crest Lawn Funeral Home, 3275 Pio Nono Ave., Macon, GA 31206, 478-788-1234. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon.
