Abbie Jones

Abbie Jones, 83, of East Ridge passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of the Rossville and East Ridge area. She was a member of the East Ridge Baptist Church since 1957 and also the Naomi Sunday School Class. Mrs. Jones worked as a bookkeeper for the Frances Shop in Rossville for over 30 years and World Sales for over 20 years. Her passions in life were God, Church, family, word finds, watching the food network, and enjoying the many activities at the Courtyard in Dayton. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Jones; parents, Abner and Julia Slack; three brothers, Abe, Luther, and Ransom Slack; and two sisters, Annie Geyer and Thelma Slack. Survivors include her son, Joel "Jody" (Tammy) Jones; granddaughter, Brittany Frost; grandson, Joel Jones, II; great grandson, Blake Frost; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the South Crest Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Mitchell and the Rev. J.L. Sharpe officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park with Gary Cooper, Terry Reynolds, Keith Pendley, Edgar Thomas, Teddy Harris and Joel Jones II serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
