George Robinson

George R. Robinson, 70, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014. He was born in Bath, N.Y. on Nov. 26, 1943. George graduated from Franklin Academy and Prattsburgh Central in 1961. He went on to complete many police related courses in criminology which enhanced his exemplary career as a police lieutenant in Palm Beach County, Fla. He retired from the police dept in 1985 and went on to pursue a career in the Financial Services Industry attaining numerous designations, certifications and awards. George excelled in all sports, winning hundreds of gold medals including a world ranking in racket ball. His latest love was shuffleboard. Hunting and fishing was a major part of his life. He always had a story to tell and a joke to play on someone. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Rose Minar Robinson and George Clark Robinson; sister, Patricia Wraight; brothers, James and Edward Robinson; and stepdaughter, Jamie Massey. Survivors include his wife, Becky Massey; daughters, Kimberly Ripberger, of Indiana, Christina Bright and Jennifer Tolbert; stepdaughter, Frankie Jo Lewis all of Florida; sisters, Rose (Doug) Bailey, of Hammondsport, N.Y., and Darlene (Bill) Moesch, of Prattsburgh, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Jack Wraight, of Wayland, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jeffrey and Katilyn Ripberger, Cody Tolbert, Ashley Bright, Joshua Cuthbert and Jessica Tarpinian; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Joey Cline; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. A memorial gathering and celebration of life well lived will take place in the Prattsburgh/Hammondsport, N.Y., area at a later date in the spring.
