Myrtle Cochran

Myrtle Harrelson Cochran, 79, of Ooltewah, passed away Friday, March 14, 2014 , in a local hospital following a brief illness. She was born August 15, 1934, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Emmitt Coleman and Ida Jane Harrelson. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Education. Mrs. Cochran was a high school math teacher and was later a computer systems analyst for TVA. She was a member of Kingston Baptist Church in Roane County, Tenn. and was an avid U.S.T.A. Doubles Tennis Player. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Leon, Byron, Aldon, Cecil, and Wendell Harrelson. Survivors include her husband, Walter Cochran; three children, Maj. Gen. USAF Jane (Lt. Col. Terry) Rohr, of Colorado Springs, Col.; Judy (Frank) Turner, of Knoxville; Mark W. (Dana) Cochran, of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Brittany, John, Brock, Robby, Emily and Holly; two brothers, Clyde (Carolyn) Harrelson and Neal (Carol) Harrelson both of Atlanta; one sister, Lucille Jowers of Roswell, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today, March 16, 2014, at 4 p.m. in the North Chapel with his daughter Maj. Gen. USAF Jane Rohr and the Rev. Wayland Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. today prior to the service. Interment will be at Holly Hills Cemetery in Fairburn, Georgia at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014.
