Shirley Campbell

Shirley Houston Campbell, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 21, 2014. She was a lifelong resident of Rossville graduating from Rossville High School in 1954 where she was voted as Homecoming Queen. She was an active member of the McFarland United Methodist Church for 72 years. She was a kindergarten teacher at the church for 10 years, taught childrens church for 13 years, chaired the worship committee for 12 years, and was a member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class and the Prime Timers Senior Group. She, her husband, and her daughter owned and operated Campbells Restaurant and Catering in Rossville for over 30 years. She volunteered her time in the Rossville Community in several civic organizations throughout the years and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her passions in life were God, church, family, home, helping others, and spending time with friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Houston. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Tom Campbell; daughter, Tina Campbell, of Rossville; brother, Ronnie Houston, of Rossville; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the McFarland United Methodist Church at 101 East Gordon Ave., Rossville, GA 30741 or to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. Condolences may be sent to www.lane-southcrestchapel.com. Funeral services will be held at noon Monday at the McFarland United Methodist Church with Rev. Matt Hampton and Rev. Gary Grogg officiating. Mrs. Campbell will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. Sunday at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
