William Skidmore

William Howard "Bill" Skidmore, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 27, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of the Chickamauga area and was of the Church of God faith. He retired from Walker County Road Department in 1992 after more than 21 years of service as a truck driver. He never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Tennie Skidmore; and brother, ODell Skidmore. Survivors include his loving wife of more than 53 years, Syble Burrows Skidmore, of Chickamauga, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Phoebe (Steve) Ellis, of Chickamauga; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry (Cheryl) Skidmore, of Fort Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren, Michelle (Brian) Ball, Jacob Ellis, Brandon and (Kerri) Ellis, Anthony Ellis and Malysa Ellis; great-grandchild, Mckaylin; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the Rock Spring Cemetery.
