Rachel Newman

Rachel McBrayer Newman, 90, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at her home. A lifelong resident of the North Georgia area, she was a member of Ringgold United Methodist Church. Rachel was a member of the church quilters group and was a talented seamstress. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Newman Sr.; parents, James William and Ollie Miller McBrayer; and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by three children, Sarah Parker, of Lawrenceville, Ga., James Newman Jr. (Marlene), of Port Townsend, Wash., and Melisa Norris (Terry), of Ringgold, Ga.; six grandchildren, Lisabeth Heese, Kerin Fraunfelder, Emily Stock, Sarah Spain, Nick Norris and Rachel Ryan; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Purrington officiating. Interment will follow at Anderson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. Friday until funeral time at the funeral home.
