Glenn Eldridge

Glenn A. Eldridge, 65, died Friday, May 2, 2014, at Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga. Born in Chattanooga, he was the son of the late Ike and Sarah Godbehere Eldridge Sr. After 22 years of service, Glenn retired from the U.S. Army, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. He and his family moved from Fort McClellan, Ala., to the Spring City community in 1988. Glenn worked as a juvenile probation officer for Rhea County for over 17 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Pennine Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher and was also a member of Rhea Springs Lodge #310 F&AM. Glenn was a loving father, husband and friend. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ike Eldridge Jr. and Larry Eldridge. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Myrtle S. Eldridge, of Spring City; children, Wayne (Donna) Eldridge, of Dayton, Glen Eldridge, of Arizona, Dakota Eldridge, of Chattanooga, Elizabeth (Keith) McCampbell and Karma Eldridge, both of Spring City, brothers, Jackie, James and Gary Eldridge, all of Florida and Ernie Eldridge, of Georgia; sisters, Wanda Gerlach, Mary Willis, Doris Redman and Joyce Huerta, all of Florida; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Bowen and Rev. Mike Gaither officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Wolf Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the funeral home.
