Joseph Robinson

Joseph Patrick Robinson, a true Southern Gentleman, died on April 12, 2014, in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on June 24, 1931 in Chattanooga, the only child of Cornelius John Robinson and Lula Love Dillard. He graduated from Notre Dame High School, and soon left Tennessee to pursue a life of service to our country in the Air Force. He traveled extensively throughout the world, including service in VietNam and in the Korean Conflict. Still, he never quite lost his Southern accent, and never forgot his polite Southern ways. He was liked by all who knew him. Joe loved to barbeque ribs and watch football, and he loved his wife and family. He enjoyed his years serving in the church, especially as a missionary with his wife in Sapporo, Japan. Joe is missed by his wife of 56 years, Clara Gowans; and his four children, Patricia (Jim Cox), of Butte, Mont., Joseph "Guy" of Layton, Utah, David (Michelle Waite) of Huntsville, Utah, and Suzanne (Mario Santiago) of Buford, Ga. He will also be missed by his 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services to celebrate Joes life will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 1410 East Gentile St., Layton, Utah. Family and friends are invited to gather at 10 a.m., before the services, to visit and share memories. Interment will take place in the Utah State Veterans Cemetery at 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah at 3 p.m. the same day. Condolences may be sent to josephrobinsonfamily@aol.com.
