Mary Smith

Mary Etta York Smith, 94, went home to be with the Lord Friday, May 2, 2014. She was born to the late Robert York and Leola York Williams in Thomaston, Ga. She was a dedicated member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Howard High School in the class of 1939. She was married to the late A.D. Smith. She retired from Chattanooga High School in 1985. Preceding her in death are parents, Leola York Williams and Robert York; sisters, Rosa McConnell, Louise Sublett, and Fannie Williams; brother, Robert Williams; nephew, Robert Sublett. Survivors include a loving daughter, Rosalind (Carl) Hermon, Chattanooga; grandson, Kevin Hermon, Chattanooga; great-granddaughter, Kelis Hermon, Chattanooga; nephews, Horace Sublett, New Orleans, La., Alphonso Sublett, Chattanooga, Kwasi Sublett; cousin, Ella Mae Mapp, Chattanooga; dear friends, Florence Vaughn, Chattanooga, and Tanya Carter, Hampton, Va.; other relatives and friends. The body will lie in state after noon today. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Westside missionary Baptist Church. Interment: Forest Hills Cemetery. John P.
