Johnny Stokes

Johnny Morris Stokes, 56, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at a local hospital. He was a graduate of Tyner High School. He was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Marie Thomas Stokes; brother, Johnny R. Bone; sisters, Laura M. Gantt, Arneta Humphries and Loretha Thomas; grandparents, Henry and Laura Thomas and Ross and Mattie Stokes; and a host of aunts and uncles. Survivors include sons, Corey Stokes and Cortez (Anita) Stokes; two grandchildren, Zaria Stokes and Sidney Stokes; sisters, Baseemah (Yusuf) Hakeem, Marthann Thomas (Felton King), Mattie Stokes (Ronald); special friend, Cassandra Lee; nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends, all of Chattanooga. Services will be held at noon on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Underwood officiating. Interment in Highland Cemetery. The body will lie in state after noon today and the family will receive friends from 78 p.m. today at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
