William Cross

William D "Bill" Cross, 76 of Chattanooga passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at his residence. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a member of American Legion Post 95. He retired from the Chattanooga Police Department after 26 years and Juvenile court after 10 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and attended East Cleveland Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank D Cross Jr. and Helen Lee Lawson Cross. Survivors are the mother of his children, Kitty Cross, of Chattanooga; son, Jeff Cross , of Chattanooga; daughter, Dana (Chris) Flake and the love of his life granddaughter, Abby Flake, of Ringgold; brothers, Roland "Butch" (Diane) Cross, of McDonald, Tenn. and Michael "Mickey" (Carol) Cross, of Knoxville; sisters, JoAnn Grant and Jan Woodall, both of Soddy Daisy; several nieces and nephews. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Pastor Joe Lockman officiating. Interment will follow. Drew Rader, Chris Cross, Jeff Cross, Chris Flake, Mark Souders and Ron Lawson will serve as pallbearers. Chattanooga Police and his best friend Bud Anderson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
