Curtis Barnes Jr.

Curtis A. "Spike" Barnes Jr., 61, of Chattanooga, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, comforted by his faithful wife and daughter. Mr. Barnes was born in Fort Bragg, N.C., to the late Curtis A. Barnes Sr., and Peggy Sims Quihuiz and was raised in the Lakeview Community by his grandparents, George and Sallie Sims. He was a graduate of Lakeview High School and a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. His passion for automobiles and willingness to serve the public led him in his career path early on. Anyone who knew Spike could share a story of how he would often time put strangers before himself. He was a previous employee of Don Wood V.W., co-owner of B&W V.W., and most currently served as owner and president of B&F Auto Sales & Parts Inc. It was termed "Spike's Mission" by his family because of his concern for the safety of them and his friends by putting them in Volvos. His legacy of helping others will never be forgotten. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 42 years, Ann Barnes; his precious daughter, Courtney Kittle and loving granddaughter, Aimee Kittle, all of Chattanooga; caring son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Bethany Barnes, Talking Rock, Ga. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 p.m. until the service hour at the church.
