David Charlesworth

David Spencer Charlesworth passed from this world and went home on Sunday, May 18, 2014. He will be truly missed by family and friends. David was kind hearted and always had a smile for everyone. This world is a lesser place without him. David, 44, passed away at his home in Clarksville, Tenn. He was a 1987 graduate of East Ridge High School and a 2012 graduate of Austin Peay State University. After time in the Army including tours in Germany and Iraq, David settled in Clarksville, Tenn. David was an accomplished musician and considered a world class drummer, having played with several different bands, recording many albums. Music was the love of his life. He was happiest when he was playing his drums and performing for other people bringing joy to everyone. He was also an assistant band director/drum line instructor at two different Clarksville high schools and was deeply involved with high school band competitions. He wrote and co-wrote the music for many of the band competitions. David taught special education and loved his job and his students. He also coached tennis. He was preceded in death by his mother, Teresa Charlesworth-Jones; grandparents, Loren and Ruby Holsomback; grandfather, Raymond Smith; and infant twin sisters. Survivors include his father, Brian (Mona) Spencer Charlesworth; sister, Christina (Doug) Dillard; brother, Jason (Donya) Lee Charlesworth; sons, Christian Spencer Charlesworth and Lance Warren; grandmother, Doris Smith; his special niece, Abagail Riley Howard; and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of Davids life will be at Second Presbyterian Church, 700 Pine St., downtown Chattanooga, Saturday, May 24, 2014. The family will receive friends at the church at noon and the service will be held at 1 p.m. with Dr. Perry McCallen officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow at Forest Hills Cemetery.
