Gina Hill

Willie B. Gresham, known professionally as "Gina Hill," passed away on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, in a local healthcare facility. Gina was born to Reverend Willie Hill and Eva L. (Hill) Robinson in Fort Valley, Ga., and raised in Chattanooga. She was a part of the well-known gospel singing "Hill Family." She later left Chattanooga, in pursuit of her ambitions to become a vocalist. After traveling throughout the East Coast, she settled in Atlanta in the 1970s as a vocalist at The Playboy Club, the historic Paschal's LaCarousel Lounge, as well as UnderGround Atlanta. During her singing career she worked with such artists as The Pointer Sisters, Eartha Kitt, The Staple Singers, Brick, and The SOS Band. At the peak of her professional singing career she recorded a record with Lou-Neita Recordings called "Rich Man's Toy" and "Help Me Solve This Problem." In addition to being an entertainer, Gina was also an accomplished professional tailor and owner of Gina's Needle in Buckhead, Ga. Gina is survived by her daughter Karrn (Hill) Torres and son-in-law Javier Torres, grandchildren, Jasmine L. Torres and Javier Torres Jr. of Washington, D.C.; sister, Lorena H. Morgan, Chattanooga, and brother, Alvin L. Hill , Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews. Gina is predeceased by her husband, SSgt. Richard B. Gresham, Chattanooga; Rev. Willie Hill and Eva L. (Hill) Robinson; her sisters, Vivian (Hill) O'Neal, Gwendolyn (Hill) Stone; and a brother, Freddie G. Hill. Viewing will be from 5-8:30 p.m. today, Nov. 24. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25. Interment at The Chattanooga National Cemetery. Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services 1724 McCallie Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37404.
