Edith Wallace

Edith Bowman Wallace, 92, died Thursday morning, Oct. 23, 2014, at her residence. She was a native of the Dogwood community in Loudon County and a longtime resident of McMinn County. She was a daughter of the late Tom and Minnie Hyatt Bowman, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Marie Ault; and a brother, Fred Bowman. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens. She is survived by her husband to whom she would have been married to for 73 years on Dec. 28, Dr. Jack Wallace, of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Arthur C. "Sparky" McKee, of Lookout Mountain, and Becky McMillan Davidson and her husband, Kendle Davidson, of Cookeville; one granddaughter and her husband, Melissa and Michael Watson; three grandsons and their wives, Matt and Erin McKee, Chase and Natalie McMillan and Robert and Ashley McMillan; one great-granddaughter, Jacqueline Watson; three great-grandsons, Nate Watson, Grant Watson and Jack McKee; and special caregivers, Louise Wells, Kathy Dills, Frankie Miller, Elsie Gentry, Lisa Martin and Emma Cranfield. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Dr. Chris Maynard and his staff. A funeral service will be conducted, 2 p.m.today, Oct. 25, 2014, in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Dr. Jason Clark officiating. Entombment will follow in West View Cemetery Sweetwater. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. today prior to the service. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
