Frances Murray

Frances Shreeve Murray, of Hixson, passed away on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014. She was 79. Frances was born in Goodlettsville, Tenn., on Sept. 1, 1934, to the late Wilbur "Dick" and Ruby Huffine Shreeve. She was a 1952 graduate of Hixson High School where she was a member of the F.H.A., Beta Club, played basketball and volleyball and was on the Paper staff her senior year. Frances was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was employed part time with Dollar General Store in the early 1980s. Frances was a professional seamstress, loved to cook and enjoyed the flowers from her garden. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles "C.W." Murray; stepmother, Mable Amick Shreeve. Frances is survived by her children, Margaret Murray Evans and husband, Jim Evans; Lynne Murray Koby and husband, Stan; and Jennifer Murray Somerset and husband, John; granddaughter, Erin R. Evans; several nieces, nephews and Frances was an adopted grandmother to Savannah Haynes. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today, Sept. 1, and 8:30-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the North Chapel. Services for Frances will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the funeral home chapel with Minister Steve Lusk officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
