Joyce Staten

Joyce Katherine Staten, 82, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord and John W. Staten, the love of her life, on Sunday, August 31, 2014. Mrs. Staten was born in Pleasantville, N.J., to Lewis and Marguerite Casto. She later moved to the Chattanooga area where she graduated from Lee College and the University of Tennessee. She was also a former school teacher at North Whitfield. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John W. Staten. Surviving are her children, Rodney (Beverly) Staten, Dana Staten, Beth Staten, Mark Staten, and Eric (Rebecca) Staten; grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Jonathan, Travis, Cameron, Jessica, Rebecca, Sarah, Katie, and Daniel; seven great-grandchildren; and special friend, Dennis Varner. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday and noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the funeral home with Rev.
