Bertha Shoemaker

Bertha Shoemaker, of Apison, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. A longtime resident of Apison, Mrs. Shoemaker was retired supervisor from McKee Foods and was of the Church of God faith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Carl Shoemaker. She was a faithful wife and loving mother. Everyone that knew her loved her and those who visited her, never left hungry strangers also. She is survived by her children, Red (Judy) Shoemaker, Sharon Robinson (Bill Slatton) and Dianne (Charlie) Brown; sisters, Lorrene Baine, Willie Barnette, Faye Yarbrough and Gail Dickerson; grandchildren, Tyreia Binns, Jeff Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Ryan Brown and Dakota Brown; great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Grady Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Plowman Cemetery with Jeff Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Ryan Brown, Dakota Brown and Charlie Brown serving as pallbearers.
