Bettye Dial

Bettye Kelley Ross Dial, 84, of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015. She was born in Columbia, Tenn., on May 26, 1930, and has been a resident of Chattanooga since 1946. Bettye was a longtime member of Morris Hill Baptist Church, a charter member of Westview Baptist Church, and currently a member of Brainerd Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, an interior designer, but was best known as an excellent cook and hostess. Her greatest role in life was being Nana and NanNan. She was preceded in death by her parents, B.C. and Hattie G. Kelley; brothers, J.B. Kelley, Larry Kelley, Wendell Kelley and Bill Kelley; first husband, Thomas E. Ross; second husband, Fredrick D. Dial Jr., and granddaughters, Courtney Hunkapiller and Stephanie Dial. Bettye is survived by daughters, Amy (Ron) Jacobs and Kelly (Bruce) Madewell, both of Chattanooga; stepchildren, Clark (Beth) Dial of Stockbridge, Ga., Steve (Mary) Dial of Greer, S.C., and Sharon (Steve) Hunkapiller of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Ledford, Lindsey Madewell, Katie Madewell, Chris Dial, Melody Dial, David Dial, Adam (Kirsten) Hunkapiller andLauren Hunkapiller; great-grandsons, Nicholas Ledford and Bryson Dial; sister, Peggy Payne; sister-in-law, Margurite (Charles) Cook; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tony Walliser and Rev. Royce Powell officiating. Entombment will follow in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, East.
