Beverly Nichols

Beverly Evans Webb Nichols, 84, of Lookout Mountain, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015. She was born on Aug. 8, 1930, in Akron, Ohio. Growing up in Ravenna, from there to earn her B.S. in education at Dennison University where she met her husband the late John Leslie "Jack" Webb. They had four children. She later married Dr. Nick Nichols in 2005. Beverly loved and adored her family. She was a teacher by training, and taught preschool at Church of the Good Shepherd for 16 years. Living on Lookout Mountain for over 60 years, she was involved in many things in her community. She was an active member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church, Woodland Garden Club, Junior League Choral Group and "The Oldtimers" singing group. She loved children, gardening, music and singing, tennis, and was a great sports enthusiast. She served in a volunteer capacity supporting Chattanooga Community Kitchen, St. Barnabas Nursing Home, Meals on Wheels and others. She was an avid tennis player along with her family. Her granddaughters, Rebekah and Eleanor, formed a singing group "Ten Bartram" named after her home address,"where it all began" as they would say. She is survived by her husband, Dr. Nicholas Nichols III; children, Cathy Webb Angel and husband, Dick, their children Catherine (Matt) Mason, Emily (Ben) Henry, David (Lacey) Angel, Rebekah (Jonathan) Rapp and Eleanor Angel and six great-grandchildren; Jack Webb and wife, Sue, their children, Whitney (Brandon) Nall and Parker (Liz) Webb and two great-grandchildren; Scott Webb and wife, Sue, and their children, Fiona and Scotty; and the late Elizabeth Webb Porter and husband, Keith and children, Ashley Silander (Andy) Ladd, Chapman Silander and Christopher Porter. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon on Monday, Jan. 19, at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. The service to celebrate her life will be held at noon at the church with Pastor Joe Novenson officiating. A graveside service will follow in Forest Hills Cemetery.
