Bob Bird

Bob Clinton Bird, 89, East Ridge, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at a local healthcare facility. Bob was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 40 years as a general foreman over electrical maintenance. Bob was a master electrician, private pilot, home builder and past Grand Master at Tompkins Masonic Lodge. In his free time he enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, telling jokes and flying. Mr. Bird was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Basil Bird; son-in-law, Terry Owen; and sister, Charlotte Sparks. Mr. Bird is survived by his wife of 67 years, Connie Christian Bird; daughter, Sheila Owen; sons, Mike (Debbie) Bird, and Rusty (Jennifer) Bird; grandchildren, Greg Owen, Jennifer and Kevin Stuckey, Jason Bird, Rachel and Jessica Bird; and great-grandchild, Wyatt Owen. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors. Visit www.heritagefh.com to share condolences and view the memorial tribute.
