Donald Powell Sr.

Donald Harold Powell Sr., 85, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015. He was the son of the late William Otis Powell and Emmie Lee McFarlin Powell and had lived in Chattanooga since 1946. Donald was a U.S. Army veteran and member of Concord Baptist Church. He retired from Partrade as the credit manager. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Powell and two brothers. Survivors include his sons, Donald H. (Vicki) Powell Jr., Chattanooga and Mark S. (Beth) Powell, Dalton, Ga.; daughter, Brenda Gail (Ned) Powell, San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Matthew (Samantha) and Laura Powell; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. David King officiating. The family wishes to express their gratefulness to Avalon Hospice and to Elmcroft of Shallowford for the compassionate care they showed Mr. Powell.
